Bring your commercial expertise in-house and help shape the future of modular construction.

Our client is a leading Modular/MMC builder delivering innovative modular solutions to clients across New Zealand. As the business continues to grow, we are bringing our QS and Estimating capability in-house and are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of project commercial management, cost control and estimating.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are commercially successful from initial estimate through to completion.

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, schedules of quantities, tenders and contract documentation
• Managing project budgets, cost control, forecasting and expenditure
• Pricing variations, claims and future works accurately
• Providing commercial and value-management advice throughout the project lifecycle
• Managing contracts across a range of formats
• Working closely with vendors, clients, engineers, architects, councils and other building professionals
• Interpreting architectural drawings, plans and specifications
• Supporting projects to be delivered on programme, within budget and to the required standards
• Building effective supplier and subcontractor relationships
• Providing firm but fair commercial communication and managing claims professionally

About You

• 8+ years’ experience in the New Zealand construction industry
• Strong commercial and contract management capability
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand Building Codes and construction practices
• Sound understanding of construction methods, materials and procurement
• Exceptional budgeting, cost control and forecasting skills
• Strong claims and variation management experience
• The ability to interpret architectural drawings and plans
• Excellent project management, organisational and time-management skills
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Commercial confidence combined with the emotional intelligence to achieve positive outcomes with clients, contractors and suppliers

Experience in modular construction would be advantageous, as would established networks within the Health, Defence or Corrections sectors.
